ChoirBLAST Festival 2026

What a fabulous day we had performing at ChoirBLAST 2026. This wonderful celebration of contemporary choirs was a joyous festival and blessed with glorious weather. With 102 choirs, from all over the country and abroad, performing across 14 stages, the sound of glorious singing could be heard all over the town of Godalming.

We were delighted to perform two 20 minute sets of some of our favourite songs, firstly at the Cloisters and then in the Wilfred Noyce centre. We were delighted by the enthusiastic response and lovely comments we received from both loyal supporters and new audiences.

ChoirBLAST we look forward to next year already!

Success at the Bournemouth Performing Arts Festival

Sound Mix won the class for ‘Choral Singing of Light Opera or Music from the Shows. We also came second in two other classes (Sacred and Choral Part Singing A Capella).

In the beautiful venue of Christchurch Priory in Dorset, Sound Mix delivered three wonderful sets of music and song, culminating in the success as stated above. Competing against choirs from South Wales, Berkshire, Hampshire and Dorset, it was a thrill to perform and also to listen to some quality singing from the other competitors. It was a long day but very satisfying at the close.

A Gift of Music & Song

A Gift of Music and Song was the title for our concert at St Mary’s Church in Shalford. On probably the hottest evening of the year so far, the church was packed to the gallery to hear songs from Sound Mix, jazz from the Marianne Windham Trio, madrigals and early music from Good Companye and a selection of clarinet solos from Ian Landsborough.

All proceeds from the concert were in aid of St Mary’s Church and The Cheryl King Trust and due to everyone’s huge generosity the remarkable total of £1,600 will be split between these two worthy causes to assist their valuable work.

“A really enjoyable and entertaining evening with a truly wonderful and diverse repertoire.  The sound is just superb.”

“I was very impressed with the simply great quality – of sound, of diction, of dynamics, of delivery – and you all looked as if you were really enjoying it too!!!!!!!!!”

ChoirBLAST Festival 2025

A feast of singing from many choirs, including Sound Mix, took place in Godalming in June. Singing in various locations in the centre of Godalming  each choir had twenty-minute slots. First on in the court, between the central car park and the High Street, Sound Mix sang a six-song set which was later repeated in the garden of the Rose and Crown. Locals and fellow singers stopped to listen and applaud.  A great experience that we hope to repeat in 2026.

The Musical Magic of Christmas

Sound Mix was delighted to present the musical magic of Christmas in a candle-lit Spire Church. We presented a programme of Christmas songs, old and new, audience carols, all interspersed with some seasonal jazz piano and organ performed by the superb jazz pianist and organist, Gareth Giles

The Great Fair Shalford 2023

Sound Mix was excited to be invited to open the live music in the Community Tent at the Shalford Annual Great Fair 2023. 

We thoroughly enjoyed performing st such a lovely event, and the ice creams were rather good too…

 

Woking Music Festival

Woking Music Festival – Young Musician of the Year

We were absolutely delighted to be invited to perform at the Woking Music Festival ‘Young Musician of the Year’ competition. It was a wonderfully uplifting evening – we all thoroughly enjoyed the accomplished recitals from such oustanding young musicians.

As a result of our performance at the Woking Music Festival we were honoured with the following awards from the Committee:

“On behalf of the Woking Music Festival Committee I would like to congratulate you on your performances of Henry Mancini’s ‘Moon River’ and Gershwin’s ‘I got rhythm’ at the recent Festival. I am delighted to inform you that you have been nominated by the Festival Committee as the winner of this year’s ‘Sandra Bedford Memorial Award’ for the most memorable performance of the Festival.

On considering all the entries in the Choirs section of the Festival, the committee also had no hesitation in nominating ‘Sound Mix’ for a second award: the Grace Wright Rose Bowl for the best choral performance of the 2022 Festival. “

Woking Music Festival

Sound Mix entered the Woking Music Festival in the ‘Adult Choirs’ section and was delighted to win that class with an ‘outstanding’ classification. We were praised for our ‘exquisite piano’ singing.

As a result of our performance we were invited to perform at the ‘Young Musician of the Year’ competition section of the festival and were honoured with two further awards from the Committee – see the separate blog for details.
